Description of Services: Functions as the governing office for the community; oversees all community programs, services and facilities
Activities and services for community members also include but are not limited to the following:
  • Community members conduct all business affairs such as banking and grocery shopping in Longlac, a 5-minute drive from reserve
  • Hospital services available at Longlac or Thunder Bay
  • Ontario First Nation Policing arrangements through OPP, Greenstone Detachment
  • Child & Family services provided by Dilico Anishinabek Family Care, Longlac District Office
  • Offers several small private businesses, a General Store and Gas Bar, and a Subway franchise
  • Provides a Canada Post postal station
  • Offers a new Community Centre that also houses the Youth and Elder Centre
  • Provides a Training Centre with a focus towards developing life skills and Adult Learning
  • Hosts an annual Pow Wow in July on the new grounds
  • Coordinates the Granny Francis Memorial Fish Derby in July with regional participation
  • Hosts an Annual Christmas gathering for community members
  • Participates in the Little NHL, one of Ontario's largest youth hockey tournaments
  • Provides free Internet access at the local schools or Band Office
  • Offers an Education Department that adminsters Migizi Wazisin Elementary School and Migizi Miigwanan Secondary School
  • Operates a Volunteer Fire Department
  • Coordinates health care and health programs at the Long Lake 58 Health Clinic
  • Offers social services such as Ontario Works and employment/training programs at the Maajii Boodawe centre
