Description of Services:
  • Prepares a report that provides systemic background factors and life circumstances of an Indigenous offender to the court at sentencing
  • Provides culturally appropriate recommendations for sentencing alternatives to custody
  • Offers Gladue Aftercare to support the development of the recommendations
  • Offers an anger management program
  • Assists, supports, and advocates on behalf of the offender to follow through with the recommendations
  • Requirements
    Fees: None
    Eligibility - Population(s) Served:
    • Indigenous individuals who have pled guilty or are found guilty after trial

    • Must consent to the report

    • Must be residents of Thunder Bay

    • Priority is given to Indigenous women and to clients facing six months or more in custody
    Application:
    • Through a defence lawyer, Duty Counsel, a Courtworker, the Crown, or the judge

    • Gladue Report Request Form is available on the website
